Mark Duffy is an Irish artist based in Newcastle Upon Tyne. Duffy formerly worked as photographer for the Houses of Parliament (2015-2019) during which his photojournalism characterised many memorable front pages.

Duffy’s work explores issues of politics, power, national identity and media in the public sphere. Duffy’s current body of work ‘BREXIT IS YOUR FAULT’ is a multi-strand work made at a time of unparalleled political turmoil from the perspective of a European working as the official photographer in the House of Commons.

Conflicted by a sense of a sort of bereavement and the political impartiality demanded of his role as House of Commons photographer, Duffy set about trying to make sense of a thing that made absolutely no sense.

Duffy’s bookworks can be found in the Collections of The Metropolitan Museum (USA) , Tate Modern (UK) and The National Art Library at the V&A (UK).
